I do everything graphic using GIMP.  A day without GIMP is like a day without ............well a ....... GIMP.   I couldn't function without it.   Example:  OK Honey I'll take out the trash as soon as I'm finished with this pic.

Gimp "is" actually one of the coolest graphics software for Linux... definitely the most popular ;)

Gimp is a very good imaging program hands down, but it still IMO has a little bit of work to catch up with photpshop. ::) ;) I use it for most everything now, but still use photoshop once in a while in Wine for those last few little things.

I've used photoshop for years now and since they refuse to port it to Linux I'm learning Gimp. It's a different tool
and it is very powerful. I just bought the beta of Pixel and between the 2 apps I see Windoze fading away.

Gimp can easily be used for converting the size and format of pictures.  I also use it for making "avatar"/"icon" sized pictures for proggys that don't have icons and for forum avatars.

At one time I also use "babygimp", but have not been able to get it to "run/install" the last time I downloaded it.

I've tried adding "textures" and some items to pictures with GIMP but haven't had much luck,

However, the "blend function" works quite easily and I used it to make a couple of wallpapers for a distro.

GIMP is my 2nd MOST USED program after Blender (Firefox makes that list at 3rd :D and some games follow that :D)

I could not do what I do without it. I have used GIMP on Windows and Linux and it truly is almost identical on both versions. Which makes it easy if I'm not at my computer to still use GIMP, only thing typically that is different is the brushes I've downloaded or made.. :D
