I like it a lot, not too busy at all. Plus, I think it has the right balance of colors that's pleasing to the eye. And then there's the clincher for me, a minimalist style.
The only thing I'd quibble about would be the fonts. They feel too antiseptic and blocky. I would go with a warmer, maybe curvier font, but that's just me.
Cheers

Thanks for the input Jaws. Would you happen to know anything about login screens? I'm working on one that is close in theme to the boot screen. I kinda swiped GeminiGuys Klikit wallpaper and am using it as a pattern for the login.

Here's the official Klikit font for the logos; http://www.klikit.org/images/klikitorg/klikit_artwork//SMARTIE_.TTFI hope that helps! Does anyone know anything about making boot menu screens for Grub? I'd love to see a Grub boot menu themed to go with that blue splash screen dadster previously posted. The idea is to have continuity of the theme all the way from the boot menu to the Desktop. If anyone is interested... Some other project ideas have been posted here: http://loscompanion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3567.0I've also reserved server space for everyone on the Kliit servers if you need project workspace or a place to upload your artwork and link to it. The instructions for logging in via FTP are here: http://loscompanion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3339.15;msg=53201Thanks for everyone's contributions!

Would you happen to know anything about login screens? Does anyone know anything about making boot menu screens for Grub? Hey Dad and GD, Haven't given it much thought, aren't they just background (wallpaper?) images for the login dialog box? To be perfectly honest I thought login, grub and boot screens were all the same, just background images, and the login, boot menu or whatever in the foreground is displayed by the program that's running. Cheers

save the image as .xpm.... then ".gz. it" and drop it itno the grub folder You just produce an image, do the above (without dropping into the folder) then people can just grab it and drop it into their grub folder. Then they can go back to the options in their grub and choose the boot image to use so..... "your image.xpm.gz"

Just wondering how the GRUB project is going Dad? If my instructions were a bit vague, I can try to clarify a bit more... 1. You can take whatever image you want and make it into a boot image. The image can be no bigger than 640 by 480 and 15 colors. It must be saved in xpm format. 2. Once you have the picture that you want gzip it. The filename should be whateveryouwant.xpm.gz (meaning whatever name you like as long as followed by ".xpm.gz") 3. Copy/Move the file to /boot/grub 4. Edit grubs config file. It might be grub.conf or menu.lst depending on your distro. splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/whateveryounamedit.xpm.gz Thats it. Reboot to see your purty new grub image! Hope that's a little more helpful
