Alright, I think it's time to start opening discussions here. This comes to me as it was just today, that I suddenly realized that most people who use Xara LX are failing to understand "why" Xara LX cannot produce useful .svg files...
The fact of the matter (concerning the two included .svg filters) is, they both actually work exactly as they are intended to.

We can "import" .svg files. (that's what the "import" filter does), but... it does "not" do anything more than this.
We can "export" .svg files.... but, if there is not any useful information within that exported file.... it is thus, "useless"

Once an .svg file is imported into an application... the moment you try to work with that file... many other filters and libraries begin to go to work. These are what create that missing "useful" imformation.
Go into your inkscape folder and take a look at all the different .svg filters and "lib' scripts..... When you begin a session with an .svg file using inkscape... "all those filters and scripts are put to work to handle numerous parts of the file". And then, just before the file is exported... all that information from each one of those tools is packaged together into an .xml file to create a "true" .svg, ready to be sent on it's way.
Blender uses many of those same tools as well.....
But.... is it enough to get all the needed tools, simply place them in your Xara LX folder and "VIOLA"??!!
Unfortunately.... the answer is.... "No"
If it were that easy.. it would have been done a long time ago (by me) and I'd be famous

And trust me.. I would definitely bask in the glory of it all

This... is where the need for developers, testers, and thugs to beat away the whiners comes in

All these filters and libraries.. and the inevitable dependancies, now need to be literally "pulverized and molested and indecently exploited" and twisted beyond all perversion... so that they finally conform or die

If we cannot find the people with the skill, or desire to contribute.... it will never happen.
Projects like this, do not happen without the right people to do the work, and test.... and enough of both. They also do not happen without some form of financial support. (Do you really think that every single person who has worked on Inkscape does it for free?) Well, that is just not reality.
So, in due time.. if this project begins to take some shape, and seems like it can become reality once again... We will meet, and decide on exactly what form of donation system to set up... But, "I will not even entertain this thought... until I see at least ONE developer checking in and expressing a serious interest"
And if this does happen, I will ensure that any monies intended for the project... go exactly where they are intended to go and NOWHERE ELSE! ANd a fully public accessible log will be maintained to keep track of it all.
I already have two business who will be more then willing to make some decent donations, should this project get underway.
So, I officially declare this topic "open to the public" and I am anxious to see what comes of it all from here on.
"The past is the past... let's giddiyup to the future" (Krammer from Jerry Siegnfeld) <I know I spelled his name wrong

The next thread below this, is where we will begin to make a list of each of the .svg filters and other tools which will be required, and a brief discription of their function related to the project.
